Tennis player Sorana Cirstea has reported the theft of her trophy, recently obtained in a women’s tournament, from her hotel room in New York. The incident occurred while the athlete was participating in the US Open. Cirstea called through her social media for the return of the trophy on Saturday night, two days after her elimination from the individual tournament in Flushing Meadows.

In her post, the tennis player expressed her desire to recover the trophy won in Cleveland, emphasizing its sentimental value above the material. “Please return it! It has no material value, only sentimental value. It would be (very) appreciated!”, she wrote. Cirstea, 35 years old and from Romania, won her third individual title earlier this month at the Cleveland preparation tournament for the US Open. Subsequently, she was defeated by Karolina Muchova, eleventh seed, in the second round at Flushing Meadows. The hotel where the incident occurred has refrained from commenting on the matter.
