Iga Swiatek Reaches 400 Wins and Advances in the China Open

The prominent tennis player Iga Swiatek, Wimbledon champion, achieved her 400th career victory by defeating Camila Osorio at the China Open. With this triumph, Swiatek secures her place in the fourth round of the tournament. Swiatek, who had previously achieved more than 25 victories in WTA-1000 events for three consecutive seasons, demonstrated her excellent form by defeating Yuan Yue in the third round. In the match against Osorio, Swiatek dominated the first set with a resounding 6-0. Unfortunately, Osorio was forced to retire from the match in the first game of the second set due to an injury. Osorio requested a medical timeout and, after committing a double fault, was forced to abandon the match when the score indicated 0-40 in the first game of the second set.

“Of course, I feel really bad for Camila, because she always gives 100%,” Swiatek commented. “She told me she got injured at the beginning of the match. It’s always sad to see that, because we just want to compete. She couldn’t do it. But overall, apart from that, I feel like I played well in the first set and really used my game to put pressure on Camila.”
