BOLOGNA, Italy – Spain secured their place in the Davis Cup final thanks to the outstanding performance of the doubles pair formed by Marcel Granollers and Pedro Martínez. In an exciting match, they managed to defeat the German pair of Tim Pütz and Kevin Krawietz with a score of 6-2, 3-6, 6-3, thus sealing the overall victory of 2-1 in the semifinal.

Previously, Alexander Zverev had kept the hopes of the German team alive by defeating Jaume Munar with partials of 7-6 (2), 7-6 (5). The path to the Spanish victory began with Pablo Carreño Busta, who defeated Jan-Lennard Struff. Carreño Busta showed his composure by saving five consecutive set points in the tiebreak, securing the victory with a score of 6-4, 7-6 (6).

Granollers and Martinez’s performance was crucial, as they inflicted Pütz and Krawietz only their second defeat in the Davis Cup.

This victory boosts the Spanish team, which was without Carlos Alcaraz due to an injury, to the final for the first time in six years.

In the final, Spain will face Italy, the defending champion on two occasions, who previously defeated Belgium.
