In an exciting day of the Davis Cup, Spain achieved a crucial victory over the Czech Republic, securing their place in the semifinals with a score of 2-1. The duo composed of Marcel Granollers and Pedro Martínez Portero shone in the decisive doubles match, sealing the Spanish triumph.

Spain Advances to Semifinals

Granollers and Martínez proved their worth on the court, defeating Tomas Machac and Jakub Mensik. This victory gains even more relevance considering the absence of Carlos Alcaraz, who could not participate due to an injury. The Spanish team, which hadn’t reached this stage since their triumph in 2019, will face Germany in the semi-finals, who previously defeated Argentina with the same score.

Germany Also Secures Its Place

In the match between Germany and Argentina, Kevin Krawietz and Tim Puetz stood out in the doubles match, achieving a close victory that secured Germany’s advance. Argentina, for its part, was seeking to reach its 100th victory in the Davis Cup. The doubles match that defined the series, Granollers and Martínez managed to win with a score of 7-6 (8), 7-6 (8) at the SuperTennis Arena. The young Mensik, with 20 aces, had given the advantage to the Czech Republic by defeating Pablo Carreño Busta. However, Jaume Munar tied the series for Spain, defeating Jiri Lehecka.
