Ben Shelton Advances at Wimbledon with Authority

After a swift victory in the second round of Wimbledon, Ben Shelton demonstrated his efficiency by defeating Marton Fucsovics in straight sets, securing his place in the round of 16 of the prestigious tournament for the second consecutive year. At 22 years old, Shelton, who reached the semifinals of the Australian Open and the fourth round at Roland Garros, stands out as the youngest American player to reach three appearances in the round of 16 of a Grand Slam in the same year since Andy Roddick achieved it in 2004, shortly after turning 22 years old. Shelton also became the fourth American in the last 20 years to win his first three Wimbledon matches in straight sets, following in the footsteps of Tommy Paul and Taylor Fritz in 2022, and Roddick in 2007. Currently, Shelton and Fritz are the only American male representatives remaining in the tournament. Fritz, seeded number five, will face Jordan Thompson of Australia in search of a place in the fourth round.

I had a lot of fun. It’s always special to play here at Wimbledon… Court 1 is a special court.
