Rybakina Conquers Ningbo Open and Secures Tenth WTA Title
NINGBO, China – Elena Rybakina showcased her power by coming back from a set down to defeat Ekaterina Alexandrova in the final of the Ningbo Open. The Kazakhstani player won with scores of 3-6, 6-0 and 6-2, thus adding her tenth title on the WTA circuit. Rybakina, seeded number three, had a hesitant start, falling 4-1 behind in the first set against her Russian rival. However, her game was completely transformed in the second set, where she dominated her opponent, seeded number four. The tennis player managed to win nine consecutive games and hit 11 aces.This triumph represents Rybakina’s second title so far this year. Rybakina’s outstanding performance at the end of the season keeps her in the running for a place in the WTA Finals to be held in Riyadh in November. For Alexandrova, this defeat marks her third consecutive lost final in WTA 500 tournaments. Rybakina also expressed her recognition to Alexandrova:I thank my team for always pushing me to be better. Especially at the end of the season, it’s not easy, but without you I wouldn’t be here.
