Holger Rune Injured and Will Be Out of the Courts for a While
Danish tennis player Holger Rune, currently ranked number 11 in the world, announced that he will be away from the courts for a while due to an Achilles tendon injury that will require surgery. The injury occurred during the Nordic Open semi-final in Stockholm on Saturday, where Rune had to retire from the match against Ugo Humbert. In his Instagram post, Rune expressed his frustration and sadness over the injury. He described that his Achilles tendon was “completely torn at the proximal end” and that he will be operated on next week.Rune, 22 years old, has reached the quarterfinals in three Grand Slams and reached number 4 in the world ranking.It’s tough. I felt a lot of joy on the court in Stockholm and it’s unbearable to think that I won’t feel this energy for a while now.
