Brazilian tennis player Beatriz Haddad Maia has decided to end her season early to prioritize her health. The player, currently ranked number 40 in the world, announced her decision via an Instagram post on Monday.

“I am ending my 2025 season a little earlier than planned to be able to rest my body and mind for a longer period,” she wrote.

The tennis player added: “Rest assured that I will come back stronger and the best is yet to come.” Last week, during a WTA tournament in Seoul, 29-year-old Haddad Maia experienced breathing difficulties and hand tremors while resting between games. A physiotherapist checked her blood pressure before she continued playing. Haddad Maia, who was defending the title in Seoul, won her first-round match, but then fell in the round of 16 to Ella Seidel. The Brazilian led 5-2 in the third set and had a match point, but lost the last five games in a row. Haddad Maia, who reached the top 10 in the world, lost 26 of her 42 matches in 2025.
