Beatriz Haddad Maia Ends Season Early Due to Health

Brazilian tennis player Beatriz Haddad Maia has decided to end her season early, prioritizing her health and well-being. The world number 40 announced her decision through a post on Instagram last Monday.

“I am ending my 2025 season a little earlier than planned so I can rest my body and mind for a longer period,” Haddad Maia wrote. “I am sure I will come back stronger and the best is yet to come.”

Last week, during a WTA tournament in Seoul, the 29-year-old player experienced breathing difficulties and hand tremors while resting between games. A physiotherapist checked her blood pressure before she continued playing. Haddad Maia, who was defending the title in Seoul, won her first-round match but lost in the round of 16 against Ella Seidel. The Brazilian led 5-2 in the third set and had a match point, but lost the last five games in a row. Haddad Maia, who in the past was among the top 10 players, lost 26 of her 42 matches in 2025.
