Beatriz Haddad Maia Ends Season Early Due to Health Reasons

Brazilian tennis player Beatriz Haddad Maia has decided to end her season early, prioritizing her health and well-being. The player, currently ranked number 40 in the world rankings, made the announcement via a post on her Instagram account last Monday.

“I am ending my 2025 season a little earlier than planned to be able to rest my body and mind for a longer period. Rest assured that I will come back stronger and the best is yet to come,” she wrote.

The decision comes after Haddad Maia experienced difficulties during a match at the WTA tournament in Seoul last week. During the match, the 29-year-old tennis player had breathing problems and tremors in her hands while resting between games. A physiotherapist checked her blood pressure before she continued playing. Haddad Maia, who was defending the title in Seoul, managed to win her first-round match, but was eliminated in the round of 16 by Ella Seidel. In that match, the Brazilian was leading 5-2 in the third set and had a match point, but lost the last five consecutive games. The tennis player, who was once among the top 10 in the world, had a 2025 with 26 losses in 42 matches.
