Andrea Gaudenzi Secures a Third Term at the Head of the ATP
London – Andrea Gaudenzi has been re-elected as chairman of the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP), guaranteeing him a third term that will extend until 2028. Gaudenzi, who was previously a professional player, took over the leadership of the ATP in January 2020. During his tenure, the ATP has reported a significant increase in the total annual compensation for players in tour-level events. This figure has grown by 100 million dollars, reaching approximately 270 million dollars by 2025. Including the Grand Slam tournaments, the total compensation rises to 400 million dollars.Among the key changes implemented during his tenure are the introduction of profit sharing in ATP Masters 1000 events and the creation of 12-day Masters tournaments. Saudi Arabia will host a new ATP Masters tournament, which is scheduled to debut in 2028. This event represents the first addition to the premium series of the men’s tennis tour since its inception in 1990. The inclusion of this tenth Masters event comes at a time when players reiterate their calls to reconsider the schedule, which is extensive and congested.Reflecting on our achievements, I see a sport with stronger foundations than ever, backed by record growth that speaks to the potential of tennis. Now is the time to move forward.
