Taylor Fritz Starts Strong at the DC Open

The American tennis player Taylor Fritz, seeded number one, began his hard court season in North America with an outstanding performance at the DC Open. Fritz demonstrated his power by connecting 11 aces and saving the only break point he faced, securing a 6-3 and 6-2 victory over Aleksandar Vukic.

Fritz arrives at this tournament after reaching the semifinals at Wimbledon, showing a great level of play in the current season.

The tennis player will seek to repeat last year’s success at this stage of the season, where he reached his first Grand Slam final at the US Open.

After being exempt in the first round, Fritz will face Matteo Arnaldi in the third round, who previously eliminated Lorenzo Sonego with a score of 7-5 and 7-5.

Other seeded tennis players who advanced in the tournament include Alex De Minaur, Daniil Medvedev, Flavio Cobolli, and Jiri Lehecka.

On the other hand, Andrey Rublev suffered a defeat against the young American Learner Tien, 19 years old, with a score of 7-5 and 6-2. Alexei Popyrin was also defeated by the qualifier Wu Yibing, with a result of 7-5, 5-7 and 6-3.

Tien has achieved four victories against opponents ranked in the top ten this season.
