Djokovic Advances to Semifinals in Shanghai

Novak Djokovic demonstrated his prowess at the Shanghai Masters by defeating Zizou Bergs with scores of 6-3, 7-5, securing his place in the semifinals of the tournament. His next challenge will be against the number 204 ranked player, Valentin Vacherot, from Monaco. Djokovic, known for his tenacity, has faced considerable challenges in Shanghai due to the high temperatures and humidity. In previous rounds, the player experienced physical difficulties, including episodes of vomiting and moments of exhaustion. The match against Bergs presented a small setback when Djokovic was broken while leading 5-4 in the second set, but finally managed to convert his third match point.

I should have closed out the match at 5-4. The conditions are very challenging for all the players, and I was just trying to stay in the court. I am glad I overcame this obstacle.

This is simply incredible. I didn’t come as a qualifier, I came as an alternate. I wasn’t even sure I was going to play the qualifying.
