Djokovic Overcomes Physical Challenge in Shanghai
In a day marked by high temperatures and humidity, Novak Djokovic showed his composure by defeating Jaume Munar in the Shanghai Masters. The final score was 6-3, 5-7, 6-2, but the road was not easy for the Serbian tennis player.
After losing the second set, Djokovic suffered a moment of physical difficulty. After a long exchange that culminated in a missed forehand, the world number one fell to the ground and remained lying down for several seconds. He needed medical assistance and received treatment before facing the decisive set.
Despite the difficulties, Djokovic showed his resilience by breaking Munar’s serve at the beginning of the third set, taking advantage of an error by his opponent. The victory allowed him to advance in the tournament.
Djokovic, who declined the traditional on-court interview, expressed on social media that it was “a tough day at the office, very challenging physically”.

With this victory, Djokovic becomes the oldest player to reach the quarterfinals in an ATP Masters 1000 event, surpassing Roger Federer.
The Serbian tennis player is seeking his 41st Masters title. His next opponent will be Zizou Bergs from Belgium.
In another notable match, Holger Rune, the tenth seed, also managed to advance after defeating Frenchman Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard with a score of 6-4, 6-7 (7), 6-3.
