Alex De Minaur Reaches 50 Wins in the Season
In a standout performance at the Shanghai Masters, Alex De Minaur, seeded number seven, became the third player of the season to reach 50 tour-level tournament wins. He defeated Nuno Borges with a score of 7-5, 6-2.
De Minaur demonstrated his prowess on the court with 19 winners, securing his place in the quarterfinals of a Masters 1000 in one hour and 47 minutes.
Only Carlos Alcaraz, with 67 victories, and Taylor Fritz, with 50, had previously achieved this mark in 2025.
In his best previous season, De Minaur achieved 47 wins in 2024, securing two titles.
In the next round, De Minaur will face Daniil Medvedev, who, seeded number 16, defeated Learner Tien with scores of 7-6 (6), 6-7 (1), 6-4.
In addition, Felix Auger-Aliassime, seeded number 12, eliminated Lorenzo Musetti, eighth seed, with a score of 6-4, 6-2, securing his place in the quarterfinals against Arthur Rinderknech, who previously defeated Jiri Lehecka, seeded number 15, with a result of 6-3, 7-6 (5).
Rinderknech, currently ranked 54th, and who previously eliminated Alexander Zverev, joins his cousin Valentin Vacherot in the quarterfinals.
