Alex De Minaur Reaches 50 Wins in the Season
In a standout performance at the Shanghai Masters, Alex De Minaur, seeded number seven, became the third player this season to reach 50 wins in professional-level tournaments.
De Minaur achieved this feat after defeating Nuno Borges with a score of 7-5, 6-2 on Wednesday.
The Australian tennis player displayed an impressive offensive game, accumulating 19 winners on his way to the quarterfinals, in a match that lasted one hour and 47 minutes.
Only Carlos Alcaraz, with 67 victories, and Taylor Fritz, with 50, had previously reached this mark in 2025.
In his previous best season, De Minaur had achieved 47 victories in 2024, winning two titles.
In the next round, De Minaur will face the 16th seed, Daniil Medvedev, who defeated Learner Tien with scores of 7-6 (6), 6-7 (1), 6-4.
Additionally, Felix Auger-Aliassime, seeded number 12, eliminated Lorenzo Musetti, eighth seed, with a score of 6-4, 6-2, securing a place in the quarterfinals against Arthur Rinderknech.
Rinderknech, who previously surprised third seed Alexander Zverev, also managed to defeat the number 15 seed, Jiri Lehecka, with a score of 6-3, 7-6 (5).
Rinderknech, currently ranked 54th, joins his cousin Valentin Vacherot in the quarterfinals.
