Paula Badosa Withdraws from US Open Due to Injury

Spanish tennis player Paula Badosa, who reached the top 10, has withdrawn from the US Open. The withdrawal is due to a back injury that has kept her off the courts since her defeat in the first round of Wimbledon on June 30th.

The United States Tennis Association announced the decision, informing that Jil Teichmann will take Badosa’s place in the tournament. Alizé Cornet, who retired from tennis in 2024 but returned to action this year, is next in line to enter the main draw if another player withdraws.

The US Open, the last Grand Slam of the year, is scheduled to begin the individual draws on August 24.

Badosa, 27 years old, reached number 2 in the world ranking in 2022 and is currently in the number 12 position.

In January, he reached the semifinals of the Australian Open. His best performance at the US Open was reaching the quarterfinals last year.
