Alcaraz leads the “One Point Slam” at the Australian Open

Spanish tennis player Carlos Alcaraz will lead the new “One Point Slam” event during this year’s edition of the Australian Open, organizers announced on Tuesday. In this tournament, 10 amateur players will face 22 professionals. The overall winner will receive a prize of one million Australian dollars (approximately 700,000 US dollars), a sum slightly less than what the semi-finalists in the men’s and women’s main draws will receive. This event, which will be held during the Grand Slam’s opening weekend, follows the US Open’s initiative to attract new audiences to tennis by expanding its mixed doubles competition. The “One Point Slam” will deliver exactly what it promises: each match will consist of a single point. The serve will be determined by a prior game of “rock, paper, scissors”.

I can reveal today that world number 1, Carlos Alcaraz, will headline the lineup of professional players at the Million Dollar 1 Point Slam, an exciting initiative where one point could win you a million dollars.
