Alcaraz leads the Miami Invitational at loanDepot Park
The world’s number one tennis player, Carlos Alcaraz, will headline the Miami Invitational, an exhibition event to be held at loanDepot Park, home of the Miami Marlins. This one-day event, scheduled for December 8th, marks the first time a tennis event will be held at the Marlins stadium. In addition to Alcaraz, the tournament will feature Joao Fonseca, ranked 42nd, Amanda Anisimova, number 4, and Emma Raducanu, number 33. The Miami Invitational will consist of two singles matches, each best-of-three sets, with a 10-point tiebreak to decide the third set. In one of the matchups, Anisimova, a finalist at the US Open and Wimbledon, will face Raducanu, the 2021 US Open champion. Subsequently, Alcaraz, winner of six Grand Slam titles, will play Fonseca, the highest-ranked Brazilian player, in what will be their first encounter.Molly Pendleton, vice president of Unified Events, which is collaborating with loanDepot Park for this event, expressed that the goal is, in part, to promote tennis. Pendleton added that the participation of Anisimova and Raducanu, along with the first match between Alcaraz and Fonseca, promises an exciting night for tennis fans.The idea is, in part, to foster the growth of tennis.
