Xabi Alonso Praises the Immediate Impact of Real Madrid’s New Signings

Xabi Alonso, Real Madrid coach, highlighted the rapid adaptation of new signings Trent Alexander-Arnold and Dean Huijsen, calling them “top players” before the team’s debut at the Club World Cup. Real Madrid has reacted promptly after a challenging season, bringing in Alonso as coach and Alexander-Arnold and Huijsen to strengthen the defense, in addition to Franco Mastantuono, who will join the team in August. After just a few days of training with the players, Alonso’s team prepares for their first match against Al Hilal of Saudi Arabia at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, at the start of Group H.

I am very happy with how we have worked in terms of signings. Dean and Trent are top-level players. They have an immediate impact.

Alonso added that the new players do not need much time to adapt and integrate quickly. He also referred to Mastantuono, who had an outstanding performance with River Plate in the Club World Cup.

He’s a kid with a fantastic present and an incredible future. The maturity he has on the field he transfers it off it. In August he will be with us and will be an important addition to the team.

Alonso also spoke about the team’s areas for improvement, focusing on cohesion and compatibility.

It’s about the distances [between players], with and without the ball. We have to be better positioned to have the ball and recover it. The team needs to be more compact.

Additionally, Alonso mentioned that some injured players are close to recovery, although it is unlikely that they will be available for the match against Al Hilal. Rudiger has made a great effort in his recovery and could be back soon. Carvajal and Militao need a little more time.
