The American international Tim Weah joins Olympique de Marseille from Juventus, in an initial loan agreement with an obligation to buy, as announced by the clubs this Wednesday.
This transfer represents Weah’s return to Ligue 1, following his previous stints with Lille and Paris Saint-Germain. The 25-year-old player, who can play as a winger or full-back, arrived at Juventus from Lille in 2023, but only started in 18 Serie A matches last season.According to sources close to the matter, Juventus was looking to get rid of Weah to make room for new signings.
Previously, Juventus agreed to Weah’s transfer to Nottingham Forest of the Premier League, but the player rejected the proposal.
Instead, Weah joins a Marseille that will participate in the Champions League after finishing as runners-up in Ligue 1 last season.
Weah has played 44 matches with the United States men’s national team, but did not participate in this summer’s Gold Cup due to Juventus’ participation in the Club World Cup. He only had a 45-minute appearance in the competition in the United States, where Juventus was eliminated in the round of 16.
