Who Shone in the Premier League 2024-2025?
The 2024-25 Premier League season has been a whirlwind of emotions and talent. Although Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah is shaping up to be the big winner, likely taking home the most prestigious individual awards, the competition to be the best player has been fierce. Here are the footballers who stood out the most.
Salah, with 27 goals and 18 assists in 32 matches, is the favorite to win the PFA Player of the Year award and the Football Writers’ Association Footballer of the Year trophy. However, the season is not over yet, and several players have demonstrated an exceptional level of play.
Chelsea’s Cole Palmer had a spectacular start to the season, although his performance declined after Christmas. Below is a list of the most outstanding players of the season:
- Mohamed Salah (Liverpool): His speed and goalscoring ability have been key for Liverpool. With 32 goals and 23 assists in all competitions, Salah, at 33, continues to prove his worth.
- Alexander Isak (Newcastle United): The Swedish striker has been unstoppable at times, scoring a great goal at Wembley and helping Newcastle win their first domestic trophy in 70 years. His current value could double his transfer price.
- Nikola Milenkovic (Nottingham Forest): After a transfer for only 12 million pounds, Milenkovic has become a fundamental piece for Forest’s success, along with Murillo.
- Morgan Rogers (Aston Villa): After his time in the Manchester City youth academy, Rogers has exploded as an attacking midfielder, accumulating 14 goals and 10 assists in 46 matches, leading Aston Villa to the Champions League quarter-finals and the FA Cup semi-finals.
- Milos Kerkez (Bournemouth): His forays from the left-back position have been a constant in Bournemouth’s good season. It would not be surprising to see him at Anfield next season.
- Virgil van Dijk (Liverpool): Despite an irregular match, the Liverpool captain remains one of the best defenders in the Premier League, showing consistent performance.
- Carlos Baleba (Brighton): The 21-year-old Cameroonian midfielder has emerged as a force in Brighton’s midfield, following in the footsteps of other great players.
- Myles Lewis-Skelly (Arsenal): The young academy player, 18, has broken into the Arsenal first team and is emerging as England’s left-back for the next decade.
- Ryan Gravenberch (Liverpool): After arriving from Ajax, Gravenberch has established himself in Liverpool’s defensive midfield, being indispensable for the team.
- Dan Burn (Newcastle): Burn’s story is one of overcoming. He went from playing in lower leagues to becoming a key defender for Newcastle and debuting with the English national team.
