PFA Player of the Year Nominees: Salah, Fernandes and more
Mohamed Salah, Liverpool forward, and Bruno Fernandes, Manchester United captain, top the list of nominees for the PFA Player of the Year 2024-25 award.
The award, which is given by player vote at the end of each season, will be presented at a ceremony at the Manchester Opera House on August 19th.
Also nominated are Alexis Mac Allister and Declan Rice, who stood out with Liverpool and Arsenal, respectively. Cole Palmer of Chelsea and Alexander Isak of Newcastle United complete the list of six candidates.
Salah, winner of the award in the 2017-18 and 2021-22 seasons, is the favorite after a remarkable season with Liverpool, where he scored 29 goals and provided 18 assists, contributing to the Premier League title.
Mac Allister, Salah’s teammate, is also recognized for his fundamental role in Liverpool’s triumph, after playing 35 league matches.
Fernandes, from Portugal, has been nominated for his outstanding individual form, despite United’s overall performance in the league last season.
The 30-year-old player contributed eight goals and ten assists, and became the player with the most goal contributions in the history of the UEFA Europa League, leading his team to the final.
Cole Palmer, winner of the Young Player of the Year award last season, is now competing for the main award after scoring 15 goals in the Premier League, helping Chelsea secure their Champions League qualification.
Meanwhile, Newcastle’s Isak gets his first PFA Player of the Year nomination after a fantastic campaign in which he scored 23 goals and helped Eddie Howe’s team win their first major trophy in over 50 years.
Complete the Rice list, from England, who reached a personal record of nine goals in a single season with Arsenal, as well as 10 assists in 52 matches in all competitions.
