French Classic PSG vs. Marseille Postponed Due to Storms

The anticipated match between Paris Saint-Germain and Marseille, known as “Le Classique”, has been rescheduled for Monday night. The decision was made due to the strong storms that are forecast. This date change coincides with the Ballon d’Or ceremony, which will be held at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris. Several PSG stars, nominated for important awards, are expected to attend the event. Among the PSG players nominated, Ousmane Dembélé stands out, who is among the main candidates for the men’s Ballon d’Or. Nine other players from the club have also been nominated.

However, the change in the match schedule in Marseille will force Dembélé to choose between the match and the Ballon d’Or ceremony.
  • Dembélé and Désiré Doué, another player with great projection, were not included in Luis Enrique’s squad for the match against Marseille due to injuries.
The Bouches-du-Rhône region, where Marseille is located, is on orange alert due to heavy rain, flooding, and thunderstorms expected on Sunday. Last year’s Ballon d’Or ceremony was affected by the absence of Real Madrid, European champions at the time, because Vinícius Júnior was not awarded the main prize, which went to Rodri of Manchester City. This year, the ceremony could face a similar scenario, although for different reasons, as PSG won the Champions League in May and the European Super Cup in August.
