André Onana goes on loan to Trabzonspor

Manchester United goalkeeper André Onana has finalized his season-long loan to Trabzonspor, as confirmed by the Premier League club this Thursday.

Onana moves to the Turkish Super League after a two-year period with ups and downs at Old Trafford and an irregular start to the season, which led him to lose his starting position to Altay Bayindir.

Sources close to the club reported that there is no loan fee or purchase option, which means Onana will return to Manchester next summer. Furthermore, United will not cover Onana’s salary during his loan.

Onana made the decision to leave United after the arrival of Senne Lammens from Antwerp on the transfer deadline day, despite having expressed his desire to stay and fight for a place at the beginning of the summer.

The 29-year-old goalkeeper arrived at United in 2023 from Inter Milan, in a deal that initially cost £43.8 million ($59.1 million).
