Omar Bravo, Former Soccer Player, Arrested for Alleged Child Sexual Abuse
Mexican authorities have arrested former soccer player Omar Bravo, 45 years old, on suspicion of child sexual abuse. The information was confirmed by the Jalisco state prosecutor’s office.
According to a statement from the prosecution, investigations suggest that Bravo allegedly abused a teenager on several occasions in recent months, and may have committed similar acts in the past.
The arrest took place in the municipality of Zapopan and the former soccer player is expected to appear before the court shortly.
Bravo rose to fame as a forward for Chivas de Guadalajara, where he became the club’s all-time leading scorer. He also represented the Mexican national team in the 2004 Athens Olympics and the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany.
Attempts to contact a Bravo lawyer have been unsuccessful so far.
