Neville advises urgent tactical changes to Liverpool after the defeat

Liverpool, under the direction of Arne Slot, has received a blunt warning from Gary Neville, who suggests significant modifications in the defense and team formation to reverse their bad streak. The team suffered a 3-0 defeat against Nottingham Forest, marking their sixth loss in seven matches. Virgil van Dijk, Liverpool defender, admitted that the team is disappointing the coach, who led them to the Premier League title last season.

The coach has to change the style or the system. He has to help them. That, for me, means being more solid in midfield and in defense.

Gary Neville advised Arne Slot to change Liverpool's defence.
Neville suggests that Slot adopt a more pragmatic defense to strengthen the backline. He suggests that the coach consider changes in the lineup, including the possibility of fielding four central defenders in the defensive line. The Liverpool starting eleven against Forest included Dominik Szoboszlai, Ibrahima Konate, Van Dijk and Milos Kerkez. Neville emphasizes the need to be more solid in the midfield and in defense. He proposes a narrower formation in the midfield and suggests alternatives in the forward line, allowing two forwards to work on recovering the ball. Liverpool is in eleventh position in the Premier League, the first time in ten years that they are in the bottom half of the table. Van Dijk acknowledged that the season is a “disaster” and urged his teammates to take more responsibility. Liverpool has conceded three goals recently against Forest, Manchester City, Crystal Palace, and Brentford.
