Maddison Suffers Knee Injury: Concern at Tottenham

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder James Maddison was stretchered off after suffering a knee injury during the 1-1 draw against Newcastle United in the last match of the pre-season tour in Asia.

Spurs coach Thomas Frank confirmed that the injury affected the same knee that sidelined him at the end of last season. He described the injury as “bad” and a “brutal moment”.

This incident overshadowed the emotional farewell match of forward Son Heung-Min.

Son received a guard of honor before the match in his native South Korea, at the Seoul World Cup Stadium, and was visibly moved as he left the field at the end of the match.

The match occurred a day after he announced his intention to leave Tottenham this summer, in what he described as “the most difficult decision of his career”.
