Liverpool’s bid for Alexander Isak rejected

Liverpool has had an offer for striker Alexander Isak rejected by Newcastle United, according to sources. The economic proposal from the Anfield club was well below the £150 million (197 million dollars) that Newcastle is asking for. A source indicated that Liverpool’s offer amounted to 110 million pounds sterling (145 million dollars). The Swedish international is not part of Newcastle’s Asian tour, due to a “minor hamstring injury”, according to the club, and is recovering at the training facilities of Real Sociedad, his former club. Liverpool had shown interest in Isak despite having signed striker Hugo Ekitike from Eintracht Frankfurt in a deal worth up to £79 million (105 million dollars). Now, Liverpool has made an offer for Isak, although Newcastle has rejected it, maintaining its position of wanting to keep its star striker. Meanwhile, Isak remains absent from Newcastle’s pre-season. They lost last weekend’s match against Arsenal in Singapore and a match against a K-League combined team. They will also not play against Tottenham Hotspur in South Korea on Sunday.
