Laporta Confirms: Barcelona Closes the Transfer Market
The president of Barcelona, Joan Laporta, has assured that the club has met its objectives in the summer transfer market, following the arrival of Marcus Rashford. Laporta does not foresee any more signings.
Rashford became the third signing for Barça, joining the team on loan from Manchester United. Previously, the club had announced the arrival of goalkeeper Joan García and young forward Roony Bardghji.
We have achieved all our goals for next season.
Joan Laporta
Laporta also highlighted that the team has a solid squad and a coach, Hansi Flick, who will seek to reinforce the first team with young players from the youth academy when necessary. The ability of Barça to register its new signings will now depend on departures. Laporta insisted that the club does not need to let go of any player who does not want to, to comply with LaLiga’s financial fair play rules.
The club received a boost on Friday with the confirmation of the departure of striker Pau Víctor to Portuguese Braga, in a deal that could reach 15 million euros.
Laporta added that there will be savings in terms of salaries. “Pablo Torre went to Mallorca and there are other movements to be finalized soon, but I don’t think there will be players leaving for large amounts, although there are offers.”
The president emphasized the importance of maintaining the team spirit built last season, which is crucial for maintaining the connection with the fans. “We will try to avoid painful departures. I will not speak about specific players, because we are happy with everyone, but there will be more adjustments, because there are some positions where we have too many players now.”
Regarding what Barça needs to comply with LaLiga’s financial regulations, Laporta commented: “We need to save on salaries and there are other things we are working on as a club.”
The team arrived in Japan on Saturday for the first match of their Asian tour against Vissel Kobe on Sunday.
Rashford, García and Bardghji are ready to debut with the club, and Flick called up the youngsters Diego Kochen, Guille Fernández, Toni Fernández, Pedro “Dro” Fernández and Jofre Torrents.
