Forward Nicolas Jackson joins Bayern Munich on loan for one season from Chelsea, with an obligation to buy, as announced by the German club this Monday. The financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed, but sources indicate that Chelsea accepted an offer of up to 81.5 million euros. Jackson will wear the number 11 jersey at Bayern.

I am very happy to be part of this great club. Bayern is one of the best clubs in the world. Everyone knows the names of the legends who have played here and knows that this club represents the greatest success. I have big goals and dreams here and I will give everything to help Bayern win more titles.

In a dramatic 48-hour turn, Jackson saw his hopes of joining the Bundesliga club fade and then revive after Liam Delap’s hamstring injury during Chelsea’s 2-0 victory over Fulham on Saturday.

Jackson, who was already in Munich when the deal seemed to be falling apart, finally passed the medical and signed a contract on Monday, after the Blues accepted a loan fee of 16.5 million euros with the obligation to sign the 24-year-old permanently for 65 million euros in the summer of 2026. This deal is slightly better than the one Bayern had on Saturday morning, hours before the deal fell through for fear that Delap could be out for at least two months. The injury led Chelsea to cancel their agreement with Bayern for Jackson, which consisted of a loan of 15 million euros and a fixed fee of 65 million euros to be paid next year, as they needed to cover the striker position with only João Pedro as a recognized senior striker. However, sources indicate that Jackson was unwilling to return to Stamford Bridge and pressured his representatives to revive the transfer, which they achieved on Monday morning.

Chelsea, on the other hand, recalled Marc Guiu from his loan at Sunderland, while Tyrique George, who led the attack after Delap was injured last weekend, has been cleared to join Fulham in a €25.4 million deal. This deal also contains a clause that grants Chelsea a percentage of any future transfer. Guiu only joined Sunderland on August 6, but is expected to return due to the shortage of forwards at Chelsea. Meanwhile, Dutch striker Brian Brobbey will leave Ajax to sign for Sunderland, in a deal worth up to 25 million euros, according to sources. Sunderland are having a very active transfer deadline day, as Brobbey will join his Dutch teammate Lutsharel Geertruida to sign for the Premier League team. Geertruida arrives on loan from Leipzig, while Brobbey will sign a permanent contract for a fee of around 20 million euros, with 5 million euros in add-ons. Brobbey has not yet played for Ajax in the Eredivisie this season and the 23-year-old player will head to the Premier League to bolster Sunderland’s attacking options.
