Forward Alexander Isak, nominated for the PFA Player of the Year award 2024-25, would not be present at the Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) awards ceremony on Tuesday. This, amid uncertainty about his future.
Isak is competing for the award with figures like Mohamed Salah, Alexis Mac Allister, Declan Rice, Cole Palmer, and Bruno Fernandes.
The player, who scored 23 goals in the Premier League for Newcastle United last season, could miss the event.
The PFA will also announce the 2024-25 Team of the Year at the gala to be held at the Opera House in Manchester.
Isak has been strongly linked with a move to Liverpool this summer.
The 25-year-old footballer, interested in joining Liverpool, has differences with Newcastle and was not in the squad for the first match of the season, where Eddie Howe’s team drew 0-0 against Aston Villa at Villa Park.Alexander Isak was not in the Newcastle United squad for the start of the Premier League amid interest from Liverpool.Eddie Howe has expressed his desire for the situation to be “resolved quickly”.
Liverpool has already seen an offer for Isak rejected by Newcastle.
Sources close to the situation reveal that Liverpool will only submit another offer if Newcastle shows a willingness to negotiate.
Both teams will face each other in the Premier League at St James’ Park on Monday.
Liverpool is expected to send a significant delegation to the PFA ceremony on Tuesday, with several players who could be included in the team of the year.
Last year, the 11 members of the PFA Team of the Year 2023-24 gathered on the Opera House stage, including players from Manchester City, Arsenal and Liverpool.
