Jack Grealish and Kyle Walker, absent from the Manchester City squad for the Club World Cup
Manchester City has confirmed the absence of Jack Grealish and Kyle Walker from the squad for the Club World Cup. The Premier League team announced the list of 27 players who will travel to the tournament, leaving out important figures.
Grealish, whose future at the club seems uncertain, was not included in the list. On the other hand, the new signings Rayan Aït-Nouri, Rayan Cherki and Tijjani Reijnders were selected by coach Pep Guardiola.Grealish’s future at Manchester City seems increasingly uncertain.
Guardiola suggested after the victory over Fulham on the last day of the Premier League season that Grealish might have to leave the Etihad Stadium to find regular playing time.
In addition to Grealish, Kyle Walker was also omitted from the list of those called up. The English defender, whose contract with the club extends until 2026, left the club in January to join AC Milan on loan until the end of the season.
The City will face Wydad AC of Morocco in the opening match of their campaign at the Club World Cup.
