Fletcher in charge of United: “An incredible honor” after Amorim’s dismissal

Darren Fletcher takes charge of Manchester United, describing the opportunity as an “incredible honor” following the dismissal of Ruben Amorim. Fletcher, who played at Old Trafford between 2002 and 2015, moves up from his position as under-18s coach to manage the first team against Burnley this Wednesday. Fletcher also mentioned that he did not expect this situation, but he is proud to take responsibility, although not under the desired circumstances. His main focus is the match against Burnley.

After the match against Burnley, Fletcher could continue to lead the team in the FA Cup match against Brighton on Sunday. United are assessing options for an interim appointment until the end of the season, before selecting their next permanent manager in the summer. It is not ruled out that Fletcher, who played 342 games for the club and won five Premier League titles, could keep the position until the summer. Fletcher insists that his only focus is on the match against Burnley.
