National League Cup match between Manchester United U21 and Tamworth Suspended Due to Injury
The National League Cup match between Manchester United U21 and Tamworth has been suspended due to an injury sustained by United midfielder, Sékou Koné.
The Group A match, which was played at the Lamb Ground on Wednesday night, was interrupted after 19-year-old Malian youth international Sékou Koné fell after a head clash while defending a corner.Sékou Koné has not yet played an official match with the Manchester United first team.
The player received treatment on the field for approximately 15 minutes and, after the halftime whistle, was stretchered off. It was later announced that the match had been suspended with the score at 0-0.
Manchester United issued a statement on social media informing that Koné was “conscious, stable and communicating with the United medical team.” They added that he had been “taken to hospital as a precautionary measure for further tests.”
A statement on Tamworth’s X account read: “Due to the medical situation, we are forced to suspend tonight’s match, details will be revealed in due course.”
“We would like to wish a safe trip to all Man United fans, staff, and players. Especially, we wish Sekou Kone a speedy recovery.”
