Max Dowman: Arsenal’s Young Promise Makes Premier League 2 History
The young Arsenal footballer, Max Dowman, has reached a milestone in his career by becoming the youngest goalscorer in the history of the youth team in the Premier League 2. This achievement came during his first start in the competition.
At just 15 years and 263 days old, Dowman surpassed the record previously set by Reiss Nelson, who achieved it at 16 years and 57 days in 2016.
Dowman, an England youth international, is considered one of the brightest prospects in world football. He already debuted with Arsenal’s first team against Leeds last month, after standing out in the pre-season. He is the second youngest player to debut in the Premier League with Arsenal, only surpassed by Ethan Nwaneri. In addition, he came off the bench in the defeat against Liverpool, ahead of already established players.Max Dowman celebrates with teammate Brayden Clarke after scoring Arsenal’s second goal in the 3-2 win over Wolves in Premier League 2 on Saturday. It was a surprise to see him aligned with the Under-21 team in the PL2, a competition that replaced the Premier League reserve and academy leagues in 2012. Dowman had an immediate impact in his second appearance and first start.
Dowman scored in the 65th minute to tie the match against Wolves, after Arsenal had been losing 2-0. From the right side of the area, Dowman shaped up with his right foot, cut towards his left and finished with a low, accurate shot.

Midfielder Andre Harriman-Annous completed the comeback with a penalty in the 99th minute, securing the three points.
Dowman’s goal adds to his rapid rise through the Arsenal youth ranks. He debuted for the Under-18 team at the age of 13 and participated in the UEFA Youth League, where he became the youngest goalscorer in the competition’s history during a group stage match against Atalanta last September.
The Arsenal first team returns to Premier League action on Sunday with a clash against Manchester City at the Emirates Stadium, where Dowman is unlikely to feature.
