Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al Nassr without a coach: Pioli leaves, now what?

1 Min Read
Stefano Pioli was Cristiano Ronaldo’s third coach at Al Nassr. The Saudi club Al Nassr, where Cristiano Ronaldo plays, is without a coach after the departure of Stefano Pioli, who is expected to return to Italy to coach Fiorentina. The news comes just days before the end of Ronaldo’s contract, 40 years old, next Monday. Through a social media post, the club announced the departure of Pioli and his coaching staff. Pioli, who previously coached Fiorentina for two seasons until 2019, and then managed to win a Serie A title with AC Milan, joined Al Nassr months after the dismissal of Luís Castro. Al Nassr is seeking its first national league title since 2019 and has had three full-time coaches since Ronaldo joined the club two and a half years ago. The team will play in the AFC Champions League next season, after finishing third in the Saudi Pro League. This achievement was secured after winning a legal case at the end of the season, obtaining a victory against a team that was sanctioned for fielding an ineligible player. Recently, Ronaldo contributed to Portugal winning the UEFA Nations League title.
