Ángel Correa Leaves Atlético de Madrid to Join Tigres UANL

Argentine forward Ángel Correa will leave Atlético Madrid after a decade to join Tigres UANL of Liga MX in Mexico.

Both clubs announced on Wednesday that they reached an agreement for the transfer of the right winger.

Correa scored 88 goals and provided 65 assists in 469 matches with Atletico, where he helped the team win the Spanish League title in the 2020-21 season and reach the Champions League final in 2016.

His last appearance with Atlético was at the Club World Cup, where the team failed to advance from its group.

Tigres, who plays their home matches in Monterrey, did not reveal details of the agreement. However, they reported that Correa arrived in Mexico on Wednesday to undergo a medical examination before signing his contract.

Correa was a member of the Argentine national team that won the World Cup in 2022 and the Copa América in 2021.

The 30-year-old player also won the Europa League and the European Super Cup in 2018 with Atlético.

Tigres has won eight league titles.
