Chelsea have reached an agreement with Borussia Dortmund to sign Jamie Gittens, in a deal that could reach 65 million euros. The negotiations between both clubs, who met in the United States during the Club World Cup, have advanced significantly in recent days. The 20-year-old player has already agreed to the terms of a seven-year contract and is expected to undergo a medical examination in the next 48 hours.

Although FIFA allows the registration of up to two additional players in the squad for the Club World Cup, Gittens will not be able to participate in the tournament with his new team because he already played with Dortmund against Fluminense in the group stage.

Before the tournament, Chelsea had seen two previous offers rejected, failing to reach an agreement after the highest offer, which included add-ons and amounted to 50 million euros, did not meet Dortmund’s expectations.

Gittens will join the growing group of former Manchester City players at Stamford Bridge, following in the footsteps of Liam Delap, who arrived from Ipswich Town for £30 million. Cole Palmer and Tosin Adarabioyo were also part of City. Even after completing the signing of Gittens, Chelsea will continue to seek to reinforce their attacking options. The London club is interested in Brighton striker João Pedro, with Newcastle also in the bidding.
