Chelsea Confirms its Squad for the Club World Cup: Delap, Sarr and Essugo Join

Chelsea has officially announced its 28-player squad for the Club World Cup, with key additions and notable absences. Among the new faces are Liam Delap, Mamadou Sarr, and Dário Essugo, who will seek to make their mark on the tournament. The London team will face Club León from Mexico in their first match of the tournament, which will be held in Atlanta on June 16. Delap’s inclusion is especially noteworthy, as the player will miss the European Under-21 Championship with England to participate in the Club World Cup. The list of those called up presents some surprises. Raheem Sterling, João Félix, and Axel Disasi were not included in the call-up. Ben Chilwell was also omitted.
Chelsea: Delap to the Club World Cup, Sterling and Félix out
Raheem Sterling no ha jugado un partido oficial con el Chelsea desde el final de la temporada 2023-24.
Sterling, who arrived at the club in 2022, was loaned to Arsenal last season. Félix, for his part, signed a permanent transfer in 2024, after having been on loan previously. Disasi, who has played 37 games since his arrival in 2023, spent the second half of the season on loan at Aston Villa. Christopher Nkunku, whose future at Chelsea has also been the subject of speculation, was indeed included in the list of those called up. Additionally, Chelsea confirmed that Jadon Sancho has returned to Manchester United after the option to buy was not exercised following his loan. Sancho announced his departure from Chelsea via social media last week.
