Casey Murphy joined the North Carolina Courage before the 2021 NWSL season. Murphy has been the starting goalkeeper for North Carolina since her arrival before the 2021 season, but she hasn’t played with the Courage since August. Marisa Bova started in the four Courage games in September. Murphy stood out in North Carolina as a starter for the Courage. She made 96 saves and conceded 1.00 goals per game in 2021, which boosted her career in the USWNT. He debuted with the United States national team in November 2021. In the qualification for the 2022 World Cup and Olympic Games, he was a starter in two group stage matches and in the semi-finals, competing with Naeher for the starting position. Naeher, a two-time world champion, ultimately kept the position. Has 15 clean sheets in 20 international matches. Her last appearance with the USWNT was in October 2024. USWNT coach Emma Hayes has tried several goalkeepers in search of a new number 1. Before joining Courage, Murphy spent a season at Seattle Reign FC. She began her professional career in France, helping Montpellier from 2017 to 2019. Murphy has conceded 28 goals in the previous 18 matches this season. The Courage remains immersed in the fight for the NWSL playoffs. They currently occupy ninth place, one point behind Racing Louisville FC, whom they host on Saturday, for the last playoff spot.
