Brian Rodríguez Considers Offers: Inter Miami or Spain?

Club América footballer Brian Rodríguez has revealed that he is seriously considering his future, with interest from Inter Miami CF playing a significant role in his decision. The possibility of playing alongside Lionel Messi and Luis Suárez is a key factor weighing on his analysis.

Sources indicate that Inter Miami has shown interest in signing Rodríguez, establishing contact with the Uruguayan winger. Rodríguez himself confirmed the conversations between both parties, although he also mentioned the possibility of playing in Spain as another option.
Brian Rodríguez, jugador del Club América, jugó para LAFC entre 2019 y 2021.

Rodríguez, who already had experience in MLS with LAFC between 2019 and 2021, expressed his feelings about the options:

“Inter Miami’s interest is real. We’ve been talking about it for a couple of weeks. I spoke with Luis Suárez about the club and it was an honor to talk to him. There is a possibility of going to Spain, I prefer to go to Spain, but on the other hand there is playing with Suárez and Messi, that weighs. I am also going to speak with Marcelo [Bielsa, Uruguay’s coach] to see what he thinks.”

Inter Miami coach Javier Mascherano acknowledged the need for reinforcements for the Club World Cup campaign, highlighting the lack of depth in the squad.

“I didn’t give a list of names. I told the club which positions needed reinforcement. I told them where the team needs to add depth, especially because we recently sold Robert Taylor, Julian Gressel, and we have a relatively short squad, that’s the reality. That’s my duty as a coach, then obviously I understand that the club will go out and see what the names are and what the possibilities are according to the budget we have.”

Due to the template’s limitation, Mascherano confirmed that David Ruiz and Fafà Picault will not be able to join their national teams for the Gold Cup, as the Concacaf tournament interferes with the Club World Cup.

Rodríguez and Club América sought the opportunity to participate in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, but fell to LAFC in the playoff match.

The defeat against the MLS Western Conference team means that Rodriguez and Club America will have a competitive break before the start of the 2025 Leagues Cup on July 30th. The FIFA authorized a special transfer period from June 1 to June 10 for teams participating in the Club World Cup to strengthen their squads before the tournament begins on June 14. However, MLS teams must still comply with league rules in terms of salary cap and roster regulations.
