FC Cincinnati is on the verge of finalizing a surprising move to reinforce its forward line. According to sources close to the club, they are in advanced talks to bring back Brazilian forward Brenner from Udinese, on loan until the end of the season, with an option to buy. Brenner, 25, had a distinguished career in Cincinnati, where he played for three seasons. During his time at the club, he scored 27 goals in 72 league and playoff matches, being especially productive in the 2022 season, where he scored 18 goals. The forward was transferred to Udinese in the middle of the 2023 season for a sum close to 11 million dollars. However, Brenner has not managed to stand out in Italian football, scoring only two goals in 19 appearances between league and cup. Now, he seeks to regain his best form in the MLS. Both Cincinnati and Udinese are working to finalize the deal before the close of the MLS summer transfer market, which ends Thursday night. It has been confirmed that Brenner would not count as a Designated Player. Currently, FC Cincinnati leads the Eastern Conference with 52 points, one above Philadelphia Union, and is tied with San Diego FC in the overall Supporters’ Shield standings.
