United States national team forward Mallory Swanson and her husband Dansby Swanson, shortstop for the Chicago Cubs, are expecting their first child.
The couple made the announcement via social media.
“Our greatest blessing,” wrote Mallory Swanson in a series of shared photos.
Mallory Swanson, 27, was part of the U.S. team that won the 2019 Women’s World Cup and the gold medal at last summer’s Paris Olympics. She scored the only goal in the 1-0 victory over Brazil in the Olympic final, securing the gold medal.
Currently, Mallory Swanson has not played this season with her team, the Chicago Stars, in the National Women’s Soccer League, and has been absent for personal reasons.
Dansby Swanson, 31, is a two-time All-Star. He won the World Series with the Atlanta Braves in 2021 and earned back-to-back Gold Glove Awards in 2022 and 2023.
Also, Sophia Wilson, Mallory Swanson’s teammate at last summer’s Olympic Games, is also expecting her first child with her husband Michael Wilson, wide receiver for the Arizona Cardinals of the NFL.
