Real Madrid is eyeing Trent Alexander-Arnold to reinforce its ranks for this summer’s Club World Cup, according to sources close to the club.

The white club plans to start talks with Liverpool to negotiate the early release of the player, whose current contract ends in June 2025.

The right-back has communicated his intention to leave Liverpool at the end of his contract. Real Madrid is optimistic about the possibility of signing the English international at no cost.

Conversations with the Alexander-Arnold camp have been ongoing for months, and only the final details remain to finalize the agreement.

The verbal agreement between Real Madrid and Alexander-Arnold is practically closed, and the player would be willing to join the team at the end of the Premier League season, if an agreement is reached with Liverpool.

Real Madrid had already shown interest in the right-back in January, after Dani Carvajal’s long-term injury.

Trent Alexander-Arnold has confirmed he will leave Liverpool.

Real Madrid will seek to negotiate with Liverpool a reasonable fee to allow Alexander-Arnold to join the team before his contract expires.

This would allow the defender to travel with Real Madrid to the United States to participate in the Club World Cup.

Real Madrid’s group stage matches include matchups against Al Hilal in Miami, Florida, on June 18; Pachuca in Charlotte, North Carolina, on June 22; and Salzburg in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on June 26.

The club believes that Alexander-Arnold’s participation in the tournament is the best way to integrate him into the team as soon as possible and prepare him for the 2025-26 season.

Alexander-Arnold, 26, has spent 20 years at Anfield, winning the 2019 Champions League, two Premier League titles, the FA Cup, the League Cup, the Club World Cup and the UEFA Super Cup.

I have reached a point where I feel I need a change, a new challenge for me as a player and as a person. And I think now is the right time to do it.
