The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) announced this Monday that Carlo Ancelotti will be the next coach of the Brazilian national team, although Real Madrid has not yet made official the departure of the Italian coach.

Ancelotti’s situation at Real Madrid has been the subject of speculation in recent months, especially after the team’s elimination in the Champions League quarter-finals and the defeats against Barcelona in the Copa del Rey and in the LaLiga Clásico, which practically sealed the league title.

In a statement, the CBF indicated that Ancelotti will leave Real Madrid after the last match of the league season, against Real Sociedad, and will take over in Brazil. His official start is scheduled for May 26, 2025. He will be the first foreign coach to lead the Brazilian national team.

The Italian coach has been linked with the position for a long time, although on several occasions he had expressed his intention to fulfill his contract with Real Madrid, which ended in June 2026.

Carlo Ancelotti dejará el Real Madrid al final de la temporada.

Ancelotti is one of the most successful coaches in the history of Real Madrid. In his two spells in charge of the team, he has won three Champions Leagues and two LaLiga titles.

This season, Madrid has suffered several significant defeats, including four Clásicos lost against Barcelona in LaLiga, the Super Cup, and the Copa del Rey final.

The elimination against Arsenal in the Champions League and the defeat against Barcelona in the Copa del Rey increased the pressure on the coach.

The club has not yet confirmed who will lead the team in the Club World Cup, where its participation is scheduled to begin against Al Hilal in Miami, Florida, on June 18.

Sources reported that Madrid is finalizing the details for Xabi Alonso, the main candidate to succeed Ancelotti, to take over the position, after Alonso himself confirmed that he will leave Bayer Leverkusen at the end of the Bundesliga season.

Alonso played for Madrid between 2009 and 2014, including a season under Ancelotti’s management in his first spell as coach, and began his coaching career in the club’s youth academy.
