Betis and Manchester United Negotiate for Antony

Real Betis and Manchester United are close to reaching an agreement for the transfer of Brazilian winger Antony, according to sources close to both clubs. Conversations between both teams are progressing positively, with the hope of finalizing the agreement before the close of the transfer market next Monday. According to sources, Manchester United prefers a permanent transfer of the player. For their part, Betis would be interested in an initial loan with an option or obligation to buy for the following summer.
Antony had a successful season on loan at Betis, scoring nine goals in 26 matches. The 25-year-old player has been excluded from Rúben Amorim’s plans this summer and was not included in the pre-season tour of the United States. Antony is one of the four first-team players who have been removed from the main group, along with Alejandro Garnacho, Jadon Sancho, and Tyrell Malacia. Since he arrived at Manchester United from Ajax for £86 million in 2022, Antony has played 96 matches and scored 12 goals. The striker, who has two years left on his contract, is still the club’s second most expensive signing, after Paul Pogba’s arrival from Juventus for £89.3 million in 2016.
