Bayern Munich Strengthens with Luis Díaz
Bayern Munich has confirmed the signing of Colombian international Luis Díaz, from Liverpool.
The agreement is estimated at 75 million euros, including bonuses. Díaz becomes Bayern’s third signing this summer, following Jonathan Tah and Tom Bischof.
Díaz did not participate in Liverpool’s friendly defeat against AC Milan due to speculation about his possible departure and was granted permission to leave the pre-season tour in Asia.
The player expressed his desire to leave Liverpool in the summer of 2024, even though his contract expired in 2027. However, the club stood firm while assessing the situation.
Two separate attempts to agree on a contract extension failed due to the difference between the offers and demands.
There has been great interest in the player throughout the summer, with Liverpool previously rejecting proposals from Barcelona and Bayern, insisting that the player was not available.
The club rejected a 67.5 million euro offer from Bayern earlier this month, but after the German champions returned with an improved offer, Liverpool reluctantly agreed to authorize his departure.
Díaz had the most productive season of his career at Liverpool last season, scoring 17 goals in all competitions and helping the team win the Premier League title.
The forward joined the club from FC Porto in January 2022 in a deal that amounted to 49 million euros and scored 41 goals in 148 appearances.
