Albertin Montoya Leaves Bay FC at the End of the Season

Bay FC coach Albertin Montoya will leave the team at the end of the season, the club announced this Monday. Montoya was hired as the expansion team coach for the NWSL in 2023 and oversaw Bay FC’s first two seasons in the league, managing to take the team to the playoffs in 2024. In its first season, the team won 11 games, an NWSL record for an expansion team.

I have a lot of love for these players, the staff, and the fans. We have built a culture and a style of play that I believe will compete for championships in the years to come. I want to thank everyone in the Bay FC organization for their support. I look forward to finishing this season strong and for this club to continue achieving great things.

Currently, Bay FC is in 12th place in the table of 14 teams, nine points away from the last playoff spot with seven games to play. In Monday’s statement, the team reported that Kay Cossington will lead the team’s sporting efforts going forward and will work with sporting director Matt Potter to select a coach for the 2026 season and beyond.

From the beginning, Bay FC has shown that it belongs on the biggest stage. Thanks to the efforts of Albertin and the sporting staff, Bay FC has established a solid foundation on the field and I am excited to help elevate the club even further and put Bay FC in the best position to compete at the highest level in the years to come.
