Arsenal with significant absences for their Champions League debut
Arsenal prepares for its first Champions League match, but unfortunately, it will have to face this challenge without two of its key figures: Martin Ødegaard and Bukayo Saka.
Ødegaard, who had to be substituted in the match against Nottingham Forest due to a shoulder injury, and Saka, absent since suffering a hamstring problem in the victory against Leeds on August 23, did not participate in Monday’s training.
The positive news for the “Gunners” is the possible participation of William Saliba, who also missed the match against Forest. The defender joined his teammates at the club’s training base in London Colney.
Captain Ødegaard had to be substituted 17 minutes into Saturday’s match after falling on his right shoulder following a challenge with Morgan Gibbs-White.
Saka has missed Arsenal’s last two matches due to his injury. Coach Mikel Arteta commented on Friday that the English international is “trying to recover as quickly as possible”.
